My yoga workout got cut short yesterday because my landlord called in need of emergency babysitting. I was happy to oblige, they are the sweetest little girls. It went really well until one of the girls accidentally let my dog out. T-dog just stood there next to her, but my landlords gigantic golden retriever is very protective. He started growling and running towards my dog. I started running too to get the wee one out of harms way and the golden knocked me over. I scraped up my arm and hip and bruised my knee. The girls were both fine, but a little scared and the neither dog got hurt either. I forgot all about it until 4:00 this morning when I woke up with a THROBBING ankle. It was very swollen and I was afraid that I had pulled some connective tissue or something (hey…I’m not in med school yet people). I took some NSAIDs and tried to go back to sleep. It was hard because I kept running worst case scenarios through my head. Fortunately when I woke up it was just a bit swollen and bruised but not very sore at all. I bandaged it up to be on the safe side.
As a celebration, I ate a wrap for lunch (I woke up pretty late). It contained WildWood Baked Sprouted Tofu in savory flavor, spinach, and hot sauce. The fridge is getting pretty bare so no hummus or salad dressing or anything juicy to add to the wrap. Thus, it was not the most delicious thing. I really didn’t like the tortilla… it was too sweet, so I just ate the tofu and spinach and gave the rest of the tortilla to the dog. He liked it.
Since my ankle was mostly better I still did my workout today. It was legs so I went carefully but nothing more then a little twinge from the ankle. Speaking of the P90x legs aspect, I think that it is really designed for men rather then the ladies. Before I got sick, I was only 2 or 3 weeks away from finishing and I had noticed a big change in my arms, shoulders, back, and core but hardly anything in my legs. Still, I could probably remedy that with some dietary changes and walking the dog more.
Well, after working out I wanted to try out some protein powder, Veg Life’s Peaceful Planet Supreme Meal. It contains an impressive array of sprouted grains (quinoa, millet, amaranth) with soy protein and spirulina. I thought I would add it to a green smoothie.
I put it into the blender with a frozen banana, a handful of spinach, a head of romaine lettuce, frozen peaches and strawberries, and water. At first sip I wasn’t overly impressed and mostly I was regretting the fact that I had a whole mason jar of green cement to consume. I think it was the spirulina I don’t always enjoy (I’m more of a wheatgrass girl).
Eventually, the concoction grew on me, although it leaves an odd aftertaste. I am still on the hunt for a more delicious and pleasing protein powder but I might get another single serving packet to keep on hand.
I’m going to try and chug the rest of this smoothie so I can be hungry again by dinner time. Wood fired pizza…hellz yes (attempting not to drool on the keyboard).
